winter thrills

we spent the weekend
up in burlington, vermont
visiting my sister + co.

our men spent saturday on the slopes
so we took the kids sledding
evan was determined to go over the jump
finally- gettin’ some air!

anya got a face full of snow on her first run
so spent the rest of the time snuggling with her mamma

is there anything better than hot cocoa while sledding?!?
Photobucket Photobucket
ummmm… no!

snow bunnies

we had such a great weekend
enjoying winter in all it’s glory.

thanks meggs!

oscar glam

hollywood’s big night
where the red carpet really IS the best part
and my favorite ladies
did NOT disappoint…
gywneth was STUNNING in calvin klein.
this IS modern glamour
and the stick- straight hair was perfect.
mandy moore
ummm… WOW
she. has. arrived.
helen mirian
is H.O.T.
seriously… SO proud with that stunning white bob
and fircely funky dress
sandra bullock
i just adore her.
not my most favorite look on her ever
but she ROCKS it
and speaking of red hot mammas…
hello, penelope cruz
and her 4 week post-baby bod.
reese witherspoon
all hollywood glam
love the emeralds with the black + white
halle berry
make up. hair. dress.
mila kunis
in that stand-out lavender
which was gorgeous on the red carpet
michelle williams
and her insanely feminine bob.
did you watch? what were your faves?!

in full bloom

the rhode island flower show opened last night
with a food and wine tasting featuring bites from little rhody’s best resturants
getting a preview peek of the glorious gardens
was a special way to spend a late-winter evening
(thank you, thank you janet + warren!)

cherry blossoms…
aren’t they just the most cheery and hopeful?!
this simple chicken coop seems the perfect size for a city chick
now has my wheels turning…
a green roof!
i l.o.v.e succulents and think green roofs are just the coolest thing.
i think this may have inspired my father-in-law to adjust his garden shed plans!
(we bough one of his sea-scapes for our family christmas swap)
put together this cheery path
of canvas “bricks”
this vignette
with a dijon door
and perfectly dense shrubs
had me making mental notes
for a some much-needed landscaping love
at our place
oh, and can you hear
the snow melting?!
oooh, golly!
i am SO looking forward to spring
and those dewy morning walks in the woods…

if you’re looking for inspiration
for your spring garden plan

little things to sew

when i saw this adorable video
previewing liesl gibson’s 1st book
based on her fantastic oliver + s patterns
i was giddy with excitement…

first on my list might have to be this sweet vintage-style apron
Photobucket Photobucket
it would be so fun as an art smock in michael miller’s “art class

have you tried any oliver + s patterns?

my happy place

when a friend called earlier this week
saying she needed the ocean
and that cool salt breeze,
we set a date…
and this morning
bright and early
we headed out

nellie in tow…
and i realized
with a smile that not even my scarves could hide

that i, too
had needed
that beach walk.

that this is my happy place…

and winter really is no excuse to stay away.

we were back in the city by 10am.
and we were

(the cup of chai on the way home didn’t hurt either)

henna baby send-off

last week, when i returned from NYC
i co-hosted a baby send-off party
at our house

this was not a traditional
gift-giving, game-playing, pastel and balloon baby shower

the mama-to-be requested henna for her belly
and to relax for an evening
with friends

with the fire glowing
we feasted on delicious indian fare

laughed and were adorned

and toasted
to girlfriends.

good luck, meredith!

matchbook launch

this weekend i spent recovering
after a whirlwind trip
to new york city
(in the midst of the ice/snow storm)
last week
for the

it was an honor to be invited to celebrate with katie, jane and fallon
(and to finally meet them in real life!)

so fun and slightly surreal to be in a room full of bloggers you feel like you know after following their daily journals for years…
joanna goddard, chelsea and jamie of sugar paper, the quintessence, anna bond
oh, and john derian.
