theresa and i
made the most of an overcast day
to get down on paper
all the plans we’ve been dreaming and scheming for the summer
we’ve only got a few short weeks left
before it’s back to the bronx…
about our experience with the fresh air fund
900 underserved kids are still looking to get out of the city
for one week, this summer…
today is the last day of summer 2010.
i was looking through my photos this morning
and found a few favorites
that i hadn’t already posted
the best parts?
being on cape
morning coffee with dad
picked by hand berries
afternoons on the back patio
watching friends marry
family getting together
helping tay learn to swim and dive and ride a bike
sewing with meggin
post-labor day beach walks
here in new england
fall is definitely in the air
with crisp, cool mornings…
today we drove tay back to the bronx.
summer is over.
she was sad.
we were sad.
even nellie knew…
we miss you already!
today was a day
for getting over the nerves
going under the rope
(into the deep end)
and learning to dive
all pictures taken playing around with the ShakeIt Photo iphone app
we spent this past weekend in new york city, to celebrate my husband’s birthday and to spend some time with theresa
. theresa has always wanted a “little yellow puppy” so we couldn’t resist taking penelope on the road trip…
definitely an adventure. walks were a challenge, with literally EVERY passer-by stopping to pet and coo, but worth it when one such admirer was JONATHAN ADLER
and his pup, liberachi. ah, if only i had had enough guts to ask if he needed a PVD based assistant. next time.
my mom and i took theresa to see “shrek, the musical” and it was a thrill. the costumes, music, acting, humor- wonderful. and just so special to share a first like that with theresa.
a wonderful friend hooked up us with a backstage tour afterwards, which was the icing on top- being able to see all the sets and costumes up close… not to mention being able to meet the phenomenal actors and actresses!
i love a good visit to the city, but it leaves me wiped. nellie feels the same way.
we took it slow this morning.

when theresa was with us this summer, be decided to throw her a belated 10th birthday bash.
she was so excited that everyone was there to celebrate her!
it was a classic, outdoor, cape cod party; complete with badminton, croquet, a pinata, and homemade mac + cheese!
when i asked her what kind of cake she wanted, i realized very quickly into the conversation (“white, smaller layers on top of bigger ones, on top of bigger ones, with flowers…”) that she was talking about a wedding cake! OY! I certainly had my work cut out for me, but i was pleased with the outcome and she was completely THRILLED!
